Aerial View of Track

Here's an aerial view of the course, thanks to the helpful folks at Goodyear who are filming the race from the blimp.

The Start/Finish line is at bottom center

Everything is ready for race day.

The grandstand is filling up. It was a last-minute creation by my nephew Alex, from a piece of box-cardboard with one facing torn off to expose the corrugations. Brilliant!
And fast!

Grandstand Front
Tank and VIP Parking The Army Reserve brings along a tank for recruiting purposes near the VIP parking area. Looks like they've enlisted Austin Powers to provide a bit of additional security.

Norton the cat makes his move for a little face time while the Goodyear blimp is photographing the parking lot. One late arrival is paying off his taxi fare. They must have got involved in that traffic snarl on the Antelope Freeway.

That's Dino Curve, named for the brontosaurus on the Sinclair storage tank.

Officials' Stand Emergency vehicles stand ready by the Officials' Stand. A couple of team managers are at the Registration window, untangling last-minute snafus. Taruffi, the course mascot, waits to bark at the cars as they roar by.

Here's the view from the top of the grandstand, as the GT cars go airborne at the bump.

Note the ultra-modern sanitary facilities. Nothing is too good for our racegoers.

On the other hand, the trip across the short straight might just make the need for sanitary facilities academic. We'll have to build a pedestrian bridge for next year.
