Chinese Pirate Flags

Piracy was a Chinese tradition for centuries, but by the beginning of the 19th Century, the freebooting ways of Pirates in the South China Seas and other coasts began encountering Western Warships with their own piratical interests in China.

This Set represents examples found in the National Maritime Museum in the UK, and other sources from the era.  All are as authentic as possible, and the Set even includes three Nationalist Naval Flags from the 1920's (since the RN evidently thought any flag taken from any Chinese vessel was a "Pirate Flag" and so identified in the NMM!).

Among the specific flags are those flown by China's most infamous Pirate Family, including Ching I, his wife, Ching I Sou, and their adopted son/her husband (don't ask!), Ching Po Tsai.

There is also one original and three variants of a flag depicting Zhong Daoling, founder of Daoism, with prayers to Tien Hou Sheng, a popular Goddess of Sailors.

As always, this flag set is available in five scales, though the actual number of flags may vary by scale.

These flags are just the ticket for your games of Boilers And Breechloaders , The Kris And The Flame , or even "Back of Beyond" or even Pulp Fiction type actions in the early 20th Century. They may be flown on your own Junk models, or those bought from Houston's Ships or the "Send A Gunboat!" line of card stock miniatures.

Another Set of Pirate flags may follow as more authentic examples are found.
